Cupping Therapy for Relief of Lower Back Pain

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy that can be used alone or with acupuncture. It pulls blood to an area of the body to stimulate  healing. It stretches tight fascia and muscles. It helps create new blood flow and causes anti-inflammatory chemicals to be formed in the body. Cupping is usually painless and many people feel it is more effective for lower back pain than for massage.

Cupping is very useful for chronic  lower pain. Many people are not aware that cupping therapy for back pain is available, but it has become more popular in recent times. Many celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Brittney Spears have found relief through the use of cupping therapy.

The cupping procedure involves burning the air inside the cup. This creates suction. The cup is then applied to the skin creating negative pressure that sucks fresh blood to the surface of the skin and moves the stagnant blood away. It sucks the toxins out of the body. This can bring pain relief for one's lower back.

People suffering from chronic lower back pain have often undergone other alternative therapies. Often cupping is accompanied with massage or acupuncture. Cupping protocols are also useful for arthritis and migraines and people have seen significant improvement in pain.
